Sadowsky Family News
New posting as of March 29, 2006 below... I am looking for a great job in the Boston area. Email me if you know of something. See here for info about my career.
As of March 2, 2006, Sue and I are living in Massachusetts in a house on Lake Boone. It is beautiful watching the ducks feed out my office window. Although only 30 degrees today, we are about to go for a drive in the convertible to enjoy the sunshine and see the local sites. Life is good.
Sue was my high school sweetheart. We drifted apart after high school. I met the man she ended up marrying one night when I visited her at her college. She was married about 20 years. I had not seen Sue in 22 years. We were in touch over email. Sue saw my mom's obituary and send me a condolence letter. Since then we've stayed in touch. Sue has 3 kids aged 12, 15, and 17. Her marriage ended around the same time Cyndi passed away. Through the breakup of her marriage and my struggles with Cyndi's declining health, Sue and I wrote email to each other every day. We had no idea we had a future together, we were just old friends supporting each other. Cyndi knew I was in touch with Sue. Cyndi thought Sue was very nice. Cyndi had read some of Sue's letters to me over the years. They never met, since the last time I saw Sue was with her now ex-husband 22 years ago.
We met in New York after Cyndi's service just to catch up and support each other. I took one look at her and was hit hard with love at first sight. We waited some time after that night in NY before we started dating. We wanted to make sure this wasn't a rebound thing. We've been dating 8 months now. We are deliriously happy, which is a miracle after all we've both been through in the last year.
Jackie has been supportive from day one. Jackie knew how much I loved Cyndi and how well I treated her. Jackie read a sweet card Sue had written to me and said to me "the person who wrote this card is the person who deserves my daddy". I cry every time I think about that comment. I know Cyndi looks down from heaven and is so proud of Jackie. She is a very special person.
More on my new life with Sue later. We start a new chapter of our lives March 1, 2006 when Sue and I move in together in Massachusetts. See below for our prom pictures.

In late February Sue flew out to Oregon to help me drive cross country. She came on the night of Jackie's birthday party. It was cool because both Sue and I got to attend the party. Jackie arranged to rent out her school auditorium for a dance. I set up a P.A. and did DJ duties arranging music for the dance. It was a hit. Jackie is so amazing making something like that happen. She and Katherine, one of the girls she is staying with, organized the whole thing.
On March 2 Sue and I arrived at the house we are leasing on Lake Boone in MA (sometimes it is spelled Boon, sometimes Boone, no one seems to know why). We drove cross country in my Acura MDX pulling a U-Haul trailer. We drove because of my wine collection. I did not want it subjected to hot or cold. We had two cats with us. We enjoyed the trip, although after 4 full days on the road we were exhausted. Oregon, Idaho, Utah and Wyoming had beautiful mountains and scenery. The rest of the trip was not as scenic. We did about 12 hours of driving per day. The moving truck with our stuff arrived a few days after we got here.
I returned to Oregon to prepare house for sale, pick up my dogs, see Jackie and attend Clarabelle's graduation. Clarabelle, our second guide dog puppy, graduated on March 11, 2006 and went home with a wonderful woman named Diana Mullens of Port Angeles, WA (near the Canadian border near Victory, B.C.). Diana has been legally blind her entire life and she now has new eyes in the form of a beautiful black lab. Cyndi watched from heaven as her second puppy graduated. It amazes me how Cyndi continues her charity work even after she has left our world. She lives on through Ruffles, Clarabelle, Amiga, and of course, our beautiful daughter Jackie.
To get to Oregon I drove to Detroit first. I used my SUV as collateral for a loan. I left it with the loan broker. I get the car back when the sale of my house closes at the end of April. The trip took me up through Niagra Falls, into Canada, and then back down into the US just north of Detroit. It was quite an adventure for one day! I didn't realize I would be going out of the US. I just typed the address into my navigation system and took it on faith! Live and learn. But the adventure was only beginning...
When I got to Oregon, I had to get the house ready for sale and pick up my dogs, who had been kenneled for 4 months. Mickey, my oldest, was not well enough to fly. So I had to either put him to sleep or drive AGAIN. So I drove AGAIN cross country, this time alone with two big dogs. It was not bad, almost fun actually, but I really missed Sue and our new home after a couple of days. It was actually the longest Sue and I had been apart since we started dating! The high point of the trip to Oregon was Clarabelle's graduation.
Speaking of missing people, I miss Jackie horribly. She is finishing the school year in Oregon. I am proud of her decision to do that. I see in her in 3 hours. It is near midnight and she is landing in Boston in a few hours. I will leave for the airport momentarily. She is spending spring break here with Sue and I to get her room ready and visit. Jackie has not met Sue's sons yet, so I hope we can make that happen. Spence is 15 and Greg is 17. Jackie turned 16 in January. Shannon, Sue's daughter, is 12. Jackie has spent some time with Shannon both here and in Oregon when they visited for New Years.
The weather is nice here in Massachusetts this week. It will be in the 60s and sunny over the next few days. I hope Jackie enjoys the visit. Since my SUV is in Detroit and all I have is a 2 seater sports car, I am borrowing Sue's truck. She has to leave for work at 5:30am, and we won't be getting home until about 4:30am from the airport. She's never driven the 350Z but might have to (bummer for her NOT). The 350Z Convertible is an exhilarating car to say the least! Hmm, I have a car a teenager would lust after and I am back together with my teenage love. Do you think I'm having regression issues? No, I just have always been a teenager at heart and I fell in love with Sue (again) the moment I saw her. But a shrink would have a field day with me!
I am happy to say Sue and I living together is everything we hoped it would be. Life can be funny. It can be tragic and beautiful at the same time. One thing for sure is that my life is never boring.
Here are nearly quarter century old pictures of hippy rocker Rich and sweet 16 girlfriend Sue. Yes, this is the SAME Sue I am living with now. We were so cute, well, at least SHE was! You know what, she is still the cute one. Scroll down a little to see us.
Coming soon: a recent picture of Sue and I, and one of Sue, Jackie, Amiga and I!
